Lawyer
Lawyers conduct a lot of research for people on things about the law and can help people argue their point if they need to see a judge.
Law Clerk
Law Clerks went to school to be lawyers but are still learning. They spend their day helping lawyers.
Paralegal
Paralegals want to work around lawyers but need a few more years of college. They do a lot of paperwork to help the lawyers and law clerks.
Director of Recreation and Activities
The Director of Recreation and Activities creates and supervises all the fun stuff at the community center like swimming, dance, basketball, and even the games grandparents enjoy playing in the big room.
Director of Member Services
The Director of Member Services helps to make sure all the families get signed up to become members. This way, they can come to the community center as often as they like.
Volunteer Organizer
Volunteer Organizers find people who will come to the community center and help with projects for free. They also make sure that the volunteers are doing the projects correctly.
Nurse
A Nurse takes care of patients, talks to doctors about the patients, gives medicine, shots, and takes your vital signs (height, weight, temperature, and blood pressure).
Triage Nurse
The Triage Nurse, like Harper’s mom, is a Nurse in the emergency room who checks the patients in and puts them in line based on their emergency. A broken leg might get in line before a small burn. The triage nurse also checks on all the patients in line to make sure they don’t get worse while they are waiting on the doctor.
Physician
A physician (Medical Doctor) performs check-ups, writes prescriptions, and gives advice on how to take good care of our bodies. They also may perform surgery. Physicians go to college for a total of 8–10 years.
Psychiatrist
The hospital psychiatrist checks to make sure everyone is not sad, angry, or pretending to be okay when they really are not.
Anesthesiologist
An anesthesiologist is a doctor who gives medicine to patients to make them sleep during surgery and makes sure they are safe once they wake up.
Pharmacist
A pharmacist is a health care worker who knows a lot about medicine and how different medicines will make someone feel. They also give advice on all the medicine sold in drug stores.
News Anchor
News anchors gather information, ask lots of questions, and tell stories on television. They sometimes interview important people like the Mayor.
Camera Crew
The Camera Crew sets up all the cameras and makes sure they are pointing in the right direction.
Producer
The Producer is in charge of the camera crew, the news anchors, and all the other people that make sure the show looks good on live TV. They are also in charge of the reporters who talk to people in the neighborhood about things that happen in the community.
City Government
Mayor
The Mayor is the person that takes care of the whole city. They have to think about the parks, jobs, where people live, and all the community services.
Chief of Staff
The Mayor’s Chief of Staff does all the planning and organizing for all the mayors big events like the Children’s Town Hall meeting.
Police Department and Security
City Hall Police Department and Security Team are responsible for keeping the building safe. They patrol day and night and make sure nothing happens to the building, the people who work there, or the people visiting the building.
